Lots of different colors on a fursuit?

I personally, don't think I like my purple coyote, so I am remaking one. So how do people od it? I see like a lot of colors on some, like black, white, blue, yellow. I was thinking how do they make it look good? Do they just use alot of those different color furs? Or do they paint/paintbrush it w/e. I am guessing the color would go ontop, so like If I was to spray yellow over black you could see yellow, not black. I want an easy, but an effective way of putting different colors on head/ body.

Downloading Optimism

Oh man, eventually the words are going to completely take over my comics and I'll just be writing out essays by hand. And yet, I could have written so much more! Must... stop... and focus on... my actual scheduled work for today...

I drew this last night and tonight, and Linney helped. Cats are such jerks.

Atwood's new book (The Year of the Flood) is a follow-up to Oryx and Crake, which I read when I was eighteen or nineteen, and which made a profound impact. Nelly and I actually read it together while we were traveling by train, and had to read it aloud to one another in order not to fight over who's turn it was with our one copy. It gave me a serious fascination with genetic engineering, especially pertaining to the food and drugs we put in our bodies. I'm really loving The Year of the Flood, but I'm trying to read it as slowly as possible, to draw it out as long as I can (and because it tends to give me very strange dreams, so I try not to read it before bed). A warning; if you plan to pick up either of these books, you will never see scientific-breakthrough product commercials the same way, again.

*************************************************************************************

I'll have a table at the Chicago Holiday Renegade Craft Fair in about three weeks, with my crafty pals, Nelly and Nora. There will be so many comics and bags and neat stuff for sale! And I'm gonna sell little on-the-fly watercolors at the request of visitors-- so it's your chance to have me paint whatever your heart desires! Whee!

Come visit us, please? See you there!

Foam for heads...

Hey what is the exact name of the type of foam people use when making heads for the plastic mesh technique? I have the majority of the materials I need, and also where else can I buy it that's not Jo-Ann's? The closest Jo-ann's is 2 hours away and I can't get there... or is there anywhere I can order it online?
I'm in Greenville, SC btw.

I'm curious. Using real fur, leather and feathers as fursuit accessories?

First off, yes I was irked by the letter from a terrorist organization to unnamed furry convention. I laughed at the false statements in the letter to chairman of unnamed convention. This post is somewhat of a direct reaction, though I've skinned animals before for the fur. I'm in no way decent at tanning, I tend to negligently bruise the membrane which makes the fur fall off.

Three topics/questions I wish to ask which someone may have already performed.

1) leather wrist bands or guards, think leather wrist guards around roman times.
Are there any issues with wearing such objects over faux fur? Slippage? Flattening of fur?

2) I've seen some of the most beautiful tanning in various places, is there an online source of fur from a tanner or someone who sells real animal fur? I don't even want to attempt tanning myself outside of the fleshing and salting, the chemicals required can burn your skin clear off.

3) I wouldn't want to ruin a perfect vacuumed animal, but is anyone here in to taxidermy which may know about using part of an animal on a fursuit like the nose? Obviously the animal would have to be at a size of relation to the person. Would I be able to make a cast from vacuumed animal parts?

For those who may not know about taxidermy. The vacuum process allows for all air to be removed, there are further steps afterwards. You see such animals after processing in museum displays, they keep the real nose/lips/mouth/etc, its not fake.

Update + wierdest dream

Most of my teachers have expressed concern that I'd not finish my gradfilm since I have a tendency to do things last moment. Actually, one of them wants to talk to me regarding her concerns after class today. Oh boy.

On the other hand I had the best dream ever.

it was pretty much a mix of this

and this

It was set in Afghanistan and a squad of American soldiers were raiding/infiltrating a village and this warehouse. Except they all wore fursuits with their desert camo combat vests and armour on top of it. It was super fucking serious because all of them were brutally efficient in executing their search of the village and neutralizing targets in a silent, deadly manner. As they all converged on the warehouse or garage (i couldnt tell what it was), they all met up including another American soldier in what I can only describe as a "fursuit head custome"
Imagine thisbut instead of a pumpkin, it was a husky head. The guy also had a helmet on and rushed around with a carbine rifle.

When I woke up, i couldn't stop laughing. It has to be the most bizarre dream I've had in a damn long time.

Gift Tags

I made some gift tags today, for my Christmas presents (which have not yet been bought/made!). Christmas, is my favourite holiday, so I get easily excited... and distracted. These actually started as an idea for a present, but then I decided to make gift tags instead. They are made out of business card card stock, that my dad had and I stole awhile ago.

I haven't used an LJ cut, or put up pictures, in a very long time. So I'm just hoping that this will work. Ooh, and I just realized that even though I've been creeping this community for a long time, this is my first entry! :)

Christmas comes but once a year )

Oh! And I forgot to say, each one is the person's first initial (if that wasn't obvious). I'm hoping to make a few more later on today. This seems to make my migraine go away slightly.
Edited to fix what I said at one point. I stole the cards from my dad, he didn't steal them with me, haha.

It's that glorious time of year when we reunite with loved ones (we neglected all year), stuff our faces to excess, and pass out in front of the TV. Perhaps a recalibration of the thanksometer is in order. A spin-off of the popular GivesMeHope.com site, this community invites you to document moments of kindness, generosity, and pure human love.

Despite its mainstream appeal, Thanksgiving is not for everyone. There are those struggling with food disorders, for whom this day causes endless conflict. There are the cash-challenged, who can't afford the gluttony we've grown to expect. There are the lonely, who don't have loved ones nearby. And let's not forget the vegetarians, who decry the animal cruelty. But there's one more group we often overlook: the terminally lazy! This community of lazy vegetarians offers easy recipes for an animal-friendly feast.

Just in time for holiday shopping season, this fashionista community brings you the world of haute couture in the form of sumptuous photos, video clips, and candid commentary. There's also a sugary sprinkle of mainstream movie discussions and debates on such pressing social issues as manicure styles and celebrity colonics. If you need a break from the daily grind to indulge your girlie side, this is twinkly pink on steroids.

From the Goodwill in Amity, CT

Hello thrifters,
I have been a longtime fan, or lurker to call a spade a spade. I don't often get out to the goodwill shops, but on Sunday, my friend, [info]sublibrarian and myself did get to go out and do a little shopping.

We found some good stuff. [info]sublibrarian managed to find books and a banjo and I found the Terry Pratchett novel, "Night Watch" among other things. Among the quirky items that we managed to find and give a good home, we came across some truly horrifying things, and we want to pass the love to you guys. )

I have a question and a recipe offering.

First, the recipe. What's lazy about this recipe is that you can put the muffins in freezer bags. Microwave frozen muffins for about 45 sec and enjoy.

http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Addictive-Pumpkin-Muffins/Detail.aspx

The cloves might be left out if you don't like the taste. (If cloves are cut out, the other seasonings might need to be adjusted like one reviewer suggested to 2 1/4 t cinnamon and 2 1/4 t nutmeg) I leave out the nuts and use dried cranberries instead of raisins.

My question is, does anyone have any quick and easy vegetarian cookbook recommendations? I'm not a big fan of tofu (I've never been able to make it taste good to me).

So far, I have on my to try from library before I buy list:
Pretty Darn Quick Vegetarian Cookbook
Starving Student's Vegetarian Cookbook

I have tried the Teen's Vegetarian Cookbook and 5 Ingred. Vegetarian Gourmet. The teen book had a good intro. to veg. nutrition. The 5 ingredient book did have some recipes I liked.

Hiya

I'm new to being a furry and i'm interested in learning how to make fursuits for fun. I'm also new to live journal and Fur Affinity, so any help would be nice. A first time guide would be great.

See through tear duct material

What are people using as the see-through tear duct material on suits with glass eyes? Is it just color buckram, or some kind of screen? What do you all use?

Thanks!
